Scrabble Scramble 2009 is well into the planning stage with many elements of
this exciting weekend event already confirmed. Headquarters this year will be
at the
Marriott Residence Inn,
2555 Iron Point Road in
Folsom, California

and once again SAMOA will host a hospitality suite
Friday evening
at the hotel for all attendees.
For those who have not attended in the past, Scrabble
Scramble is similar to a poker rally, with various stops along a predefined
route. But instead of playing cards, you will receive Scrabble tiles. Your
goal is to make the highest scoring word from a list which will be provided to
you. The awards dinner will be held at the hotel. You are welcome to drop in
at the hospitality suite after your run on
Saturday.
A registration form is attached. The cost per person in 2009
is just is $30 per person, and includes entrance into a
Saturday morning
car show, lunch AND dinner on Saturday evening with a chance at various awards.
Skip Noyes has put together a
preliminary route which should please everyone. Many of the roads are brand-new
to this event.
The car show begins at 8:30 am in the parking area of the
hotel... there will be plenty of signs and volunteers to direct you. This will
also be the starting point for Scrabble Scramble. You can receive your
registration packet either Friday night
at the hospitality suite or during the car show Saturday morning. The packet
will include your car number, badges, car show ballot,
Scrabble game sheets,
maps and directions. Polo
shirts with "check-flag" collars are available at $20 per shirt.
