MEETING TIME: 3:30
ISH for late lunch, (no eating stops on this run) driver's meeting 5 P.M. sharp
PLACE: Albertson's/Target shopping center
in Rancho San Diego (directions below)
DETAILS: The Twilight Run is a
LEISURELY drive along some of San Diego's most scenic east county roads. The run
takes place in the late afternoon/early evening hours. That special twilight
period when the hot summer day slowly gives way to a comfortable summer evening!
No sunscreen required! Hooray!
Believe it or not, this will be the 16th annual running of the San Diego
Twilight Fun Run! We really appreciate everyone's support and enthusiasm for
this annual event!
Our route takes us to the top of Mt. Laguna where we pause to
enjoy the clean mountain air. Then, when the time is right, we descend the
mountain to catch a glimpse of a beautiful sunset. A long, unbroken chain of
Miata Roadsters cruising their way into the evening. As twilight fades to
darkness, we are treated to dozens of Miata taillights/headlights snaking ahead
of/behind us. It's a sight to behold!
The driver's meeting will start promptly at 5:10 p.m. There are no food stops
planned along the route. So you won't go hungry, arrive early (3:30 - 4:00 p.m.)
to get a bite to eat at one of the many restaurants available in the shopping
center. The run will end back near the starting point at approximately 8:45 p.m.
Directions to Meeting Place: Take your
favorite route to get to Highway 94 east. Continue on Highway 94 into La Mesa.
(Watch those signs carefully, Highway 94 east merges off to the right a little
past Lemon Grove Ave.) Stay on Highway 94 east all the way into Rancho San
Diego. The Albertson's/Target/TGI Fridays shopping center is at the corner of
Highway 94 and Highway 54 (Jamacha Rd.). There is a Mobil gas station in the
same shopping center. Remember: Empty bladder/full tank !
We hope to see all of the familiar faces, and lots of new ones too! How many
Miatas will we have? I've heard that a few Miatas are driving down from central
California (SJVMC). Whoo hoo! The more the merrier! :)
