Charity:
Five years ago, Fidel's beautiful little
granddaughter passed away from brain cancer. The SOCALM board was so
touched by this that we decided to try to make a difference for other children.
So SOCALM is hosting a Poker Run to raise money for the
"Devin Hock Memorial Fund". This fund helps
support research into childhood brain cancer at the Los Angeles Children's
Hospital.
Activities planned:
beginning in the morning with a poker run and ending in the evening with an
awards banquet and raffle prizes. The run will begin in Camarillo and wind it's
way through Ventura, Carpenteria, Santa Barbara and ending in Solvang. We have
found some awesome roads in the mountains north of Santa Barbara that are very
twisty, but little used. Because of the heat, Saturday afternoon will be free
time to relax. You will have time to go shopping, to the local casino, to the
beach or explore additional roads. (maps will be provided)
Awards: for the best
and worst poker hands. We will also have a photo trivia contest, to see how
observant you are. And for the biggest challenge, Fidel's employer, Anaheim
Mazda, has donated a special deluxe grand prize.

Lunch: We are
offering a box lunch "Quiznos"($10 each) that you
will receive before the run. (You must let us know before the run if you wish to
have a box lunch). Then you can eat you lunch wherever you want to stop to enjoy
the view. Just bring along a cooler to keep your food fresh. Choices will
be available on registration form.
The
Evening Banquet: will be at Ottavio's
Italian Restaurant. We will be ordering off of a special menu for an
all-inclusive price of ($17.00) each
includes tax and tip.
Raffle
Prizes: There will be some big raffle prizes so bring all your spare
change to get a chance to win some really nice prizes.
All the Raffle money goes to the Charity.
Hotels:
Because this will be an all day event and we are so spread out geographically,
we have arranged a block of rooms at the Country Inn and Suites. The block is
for Friday and Saturday nights for
$84/night.
"We can not guarantee
this price will be available after June 25th." This includes breakfast in the
mornings and happy hour drinks in the evenings.

Directions: Take
the 101 freeway to Central Avenue in Camarillo. Go north (right turn if
you are coming from the south) to the first signal, which is Del Norte Road.
Turn left and go about ½ mile.
