Meeting Time: 11:00am
Starting Place: Flying J, Frazier Park
Directions: Take I-5 north, past Magic Mountain.  Take the first exit past Gorman and turn left.  Go under the freeway, you will see the Flying J on your left.  Make sure you eat lunch before we continue north.

Accommodations: The Shilo Inn. 40644 Highway 41, Oakhurst.  Call 800-222-2244 and ask for the "MiataFun" group booking.  Room rates are $95.00 per night.  All rooms in the group booking are non-smoking rooms.

Deadline: for hotel reservation is 7-27-04. 

Very important - Please RSVP to Marna if you are joining us. Restaurant space is limited in Oakhurst and Mariposa. We are expecting a large group from multiple clubs. 

Description:  Seeing El Capitan and Half Dome glowing in the light from a full moon is like seeing them for the first time.  And being up on Glacier Point, looking down on Yosemite Valley and the twinkling campfires.  This is what we will experience when we travel up to Oakhurst and enter Yosemite late at night. 

We will drive up on Friday, have a leisurely day Saturday exploring the local hills. In the morning we will travel through the town of Raymond on our way to Ben Hur Road. In the afternoon, we will make our way to Bass Lake and escape the heat as we climb into the mountains and the best road we have ever found in the Sierra foothills.  

Then Saturday night we will gather in Mariposa at 7:30pm at the China Station Restaurant (5004 State Hwy 140, 209-966-3889) for dinner and our drive into Yosemite. 

If you want to join us, make your hotel reservations now.  August is a popular time of the year at Yosemite and rooms will go fast.  

Schedule of events

Friday:

11:00am – SOCALM leaves Frazier Park
12:00pm – Rest stop at Flying J at Hwy 99 & Merced Avenue, Bakersfield.
2:00pm – Rest stop at Trading Post on Hwy 180 in Squaw Valley
5:30pm – Arrive in Oakhurst – SJVMC will be treating us to a BBQ/Cocktail Party this night! (Info to follow!)

9:00am – RUN Depart Shilo Inn to explore foothills West of Oakhurst
1:00pm – RUN Depart Shilo Inn to explore foothills East of Oakhurst
6:30pm – Depart Oakhurst for dinner in Mariposa
7:30pm – Dinner at China Station Restaurant, Mariposa
9:00pm – EVENT RUN Depart Mariposa for Yosemite

Sunday: – Depart for home.
