SAHUARO MIATA CLUB
Arizona

Laughlin/Route 66 Overnighter
Date: Saturday-Sunday, March 1-2, 2008
Meeting Place: Cracker Barrel restaurant just North of 1-10 on Litchfield Road.
Meeting time: 8:00am, leave at 8:30am sharp!
Please join us for a great run to Laughlin, Nevada to the Tropicana Express. This run will take us to Laughlin via the “Southern” route thru Parker, Lake Havasu and finally to the Tropicana where we will spend Saturday night.
On the way to Laughlin we will stop in Parker to check out the dam. We will then proceed north to Lake Havasu where we will cross the London Bridge and have some lunch. From Havasu we will again head north to Needles where we will cross into California and proceed to Laughlin along the Colorado River. Everyone is free to do whatever the wish in Laughlin, but be aware that your Events Coordinator should be entitled to a small percentage of all winnings. I will not, however cough up any funds to cover losses!
On Sunday we will step back in time and travel one of the longest remaining sections of old Route 66 thru Oatman, Kingman and on to our final destination in Seligman. Those that chose to can leave the group in Kingman and head back to the valley via Rt. 93. Those that continue on to Seligman will have a couple of choices for the drive home - either via Rt. 89 at Ash Fork or on to Flagstaff to I-17. I have not traveled the portion of Rt. 66 from Kingman to Seligman, but I hear that it is a very cool thing to do!
Everyone will be responsible for making their own reservations at the Tropicana Express in Laughlin. You can do so by calling their reservations department at (800) 243-6846. Let them know that you are with the Sahuaro Miata Club group and please give them this Group Code: 13171.
Rooms are $54.95 +9% tax. Reservations can be made 7 days a week from 7:00am till 10:00pm. The cut off date for reservations at this special rate is 2/15/08. After that date all unused rooms will revert back to the hotel. In the event that we need more than the 15 rooms that I have arranged for the Tropicana to honor the reduced rate. You can check out the Tropicana Express at www.tropicanax.com .
Of course, complete directions for both days will be provided before we leave the meeting place on Saturday. Also, if you plan to participate PLEASE let me know at azroadster@cableone.net.
The weather should be getting warmer by March, and it is always nice along the Colorado. Who knows, you may get lucky and come home with more $$$ than you left with!
