You're all invited to participate in the Braille Rally (details below) which is coming up in two weeks (Saturday, 7-19). For the last few years, many fellow Socalmers have come out for this fun event and to mentor these visually impaired kids who have worked very hard to earn the privilege to participate as readers in this event. Here is some useful information about this wonderful event. And we hope you can come join in helping the kids and see some of your friends. You have the option of helping at the check points or driving
your Miata with the Braille student as your navigator.
Either way, its a a way to enjoy our beautiful weather and
contribute your time to a good cause. > Snack Break at mid-way point. LOCATION: VOLUNTEERING OPTIONS: WEB SITE: www.brailleinstitute.org/Center-LA-Youth.html SOCALM CONTACTS: BRAILLE INSTITUTE CONTACT: DETAILS: This is the 5th year that SOCALM has joined in supporting this wonderful group of kids, with SOCALM is their biggest source of driving volunteers for these great kids. The purpose of this event is to assist the kids in practicing how to provide driving instructions by navigating you to interesting destinations throughout the route. If you don't want to be a driver, you can also help at one of the various check points throughout the route. There will be a snack break half way through the event and you will be treated to a nice BBQ lunch at a park at the end of the rally.
